Steven Murphy - 1st hole-in-one
Congratulations to Steven Murphy who is the 1st Nomads Sydney North member to score a hole-in-one.
This is what Steven had to say about his spectacular achievement:
Attached is the photo – that’s as good a bend I can get these days with my knees!
It was hole 14. Everyone was hitting off the left hand side of the tee box as pin was back right. Thought I would hit it from the other side and take an 8 iron for the 140 meters. Actually managed to get a decent strike (law of averages) and whilst it was in the air Thys Roodt called it and it bounced once, then a second time and then went in.
Not sure in the 4 ball who was the most excited!
On walking up I remembered that there were inserts in the cup designed so we didn’t have to dig our ball out the bottom of the hole and I suddenly thought that there was a strong chance that it would have just bounced out. Which, considering the amount of noise made, would have resulted in a hefty fine. Fortunately it didn’t.
The fact that it happened at a Nomads game made it even more special and the numerous beers afterwards all the more enjoyable!
