DERRICK JONES - 150 GAMES

Congratulations to Derrick Jones who is the 3rd Nomads Sydney North member to play 150 games.

Here he was presented his 150-game badge by Captain Damon Cornish at Riverside Oaks on 11th September 2022.

Golf always played 2nd fiddle to Derrick’s love of hockey. Before immigrating to Australia he was a member of State Mines Golf Club in Brakpan and had a handicap of 18.

He is a founding member of Nomads Australia having played in the pre-founding “trial” game at Asquith in December 2003 and the 1st official game at Long Reef in January 2004. He was a member of the founding committee in the capacity of handicapper.
 
He is now a member at Long Reef Golf Club.

• Inducted in February 2004 at Warringah GOlf Club - his proposer was Derek Gerber and his seconder was Wayne Richardson
• He was elected as our JVC in 2007 and was our Club captain in 2009 when the teal colour was first adopted by Sydney North (cheapest shirts we could buy)
• As VC in 2008 he supported Autism NSW and raised $13,419 at his Charity Day at Long Reef
• He was the National President of Nomads Golf Australia in 2012 and 2013
• He has attended all 13 Australian National tournaments
• In the 14 years from Jan 2008 since detailed stats were kept:

        Average score is 30.02
        Highest score – 42 points at Bankstown Jun 15
        Lowest score - 22 points at Long Reef in May 09
        Starting handicap at Nomads was 15
        Average handicap 18.61
        Lowest handicap 14 (Mar 09)
        Highest handicap 23 (Aug 13)
