MYLES CRAYE REACHES 100 GAME MILESTONE
Myles Craye (left) received his 100th Game badge from Sydney North Captain, David Carrick at Mona Vale GC on 22nd January 2017.
Myles started playing at the age of 17 in Marandellas, Rhodesia (now called Marondera in Zimbabawe) on sand and oil "greens". His 1st golf lesson was with Gary Player at a corporate golf day at Enkledoorn Golf Club where he played 4 holes with him. Incidentally, Gary Player would not let him out of the bunker until he got it correct. Some might think that he never got out!
Myles was a member of Rondebosch Golf Club in Cape Town with his last handicap being 16 and lowest 8.
He joined Nomads Australia in 2004 after being proposed by Reg Bohler and Nigel Adams (both no longer members).
In 2006 he joined the Sydney North Committee serving mainly as the Secretary and was the Captain in 2012.
Myles also served on the Australian National Executive from 2006 for 9 years as the National Secretary.
He helped Wayne Richardson and Paul McIlroy start Nomads Brisbane in 2008 and served on their committee for 6 months. In 2010, Myles assisted Johan Landsberg and Tony Gooding to start a 2nd Club in Sydney - Sydney South - and also served on their committee as secretary for 6 months. He is now an advisor on the new committee for 2017.
In the 9 years from Jan 2008 since detailed stats were kept, his:
o Average score is 29.79
o Highest score – 42 points at Camden Lakeside (Nov 12) - also 40 at Asquith (Aug 10) and Bayview (Feb 07)
o Lowest score - 21 points at St Michaels in Mar 13
o Average handicap is 17.43
o Lowest handicap 13 (Sep 10)
o Highest handicap 21 (Sep 12)
Another worry stat is his uncanny ability to win the monthly cash draw… perhaps he should be prohibited from entering.
Myles hasn’t won a Crying Towel at his home Club but had his first with Souths in December 2016.
Well done Myles, your contribution to our Club and Nomads Australia has been nothing short of fantastic.
