QUINTUS STRYDOM - 100 GAMES
The 17th Nomads Sydney North Club member to achieve the 100-game milestone, Quintus (left), is congratulated by Captain Rouan Snyman at Long Reef on 22nd September 2024.
Quintus started playing golf at a very young age as his father was a very keen golfer. He remembers going with him on a Saturday morning to golf and he would caddie for him. Quintus started to play more regularly in high school during school holidays and after school and the army. He joined Randpark as a junior in 1979 and was a member there until he left South Africa in 2001. (22 years)
H enjoys golf although sometimes it frustrates the hell out of him. No hole in one – like most of us he has been close but still trying for the first one.
In January or February of 2004, he met some guys who were playing Nomads and then met Wayne Richardson, Johan Landsberg, Mark Thompson and Derrick Jones to name a few and played his first game at Bayview in March 2004. Quintus remembers shooting 79 off a 6 handicap and coming second on the day and he thought this was a tough school…. He served on the committee in 2005 & 2006 and has been a member ever since with a slight 2 year break, and is happy to be back.
His father was a member of Nomads in South Africa and was a member of Gauteng (I remembers the red pants and white shirts). His father was a member for 15+ years and he was also a member at Randpark for 25+years
He has attended 6 Australian National tournaments.
In the 16 years since accurate scores were recorded, his:
